A New Year, and new things to learn

Happy New Year Blue class. It seems far too long since I saw you all last. I hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year and you all managed to get out and enjoy the snow. We should all be back in school tomorrow morning and then make our way to Alexandra Park to our tempoary classroom.

While your at home it would be great if you could do a little work seeing as you didn’t get your homework due to our sudden finish before Christmas. This term we will be looking at the following topics -

Literacy – Writing a newspaper report, look at the local newspapers and see how they write stories about what has been going on in the local area regarding the snow and the number of schools closed. How do they describe the chaos over the holidays.

Numeracy – Use the bbc website www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize have a go on the interactive games, you can also print out your results to stick in your book when we get back to class.

Topic – Building a moving vehical. This term we are going to be making our own moving vehicals with motors and batteries. Use google image to find pictures or plans of different kinds of vehicals – two, three, four or more wheeled vehicals emergency vehicals any that you can think of. This will be part of your research before you start to plan and build.

Science – Forces and magnets again use the bbc website www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize and try the interactive activities it will set up for the beginning of the new topic, plus if you have any magnets at home see what you can use a magnet for and try to define its properties in the same way we did last term for different materials.

Have a go and one or two of the above activities and see how you go. If you need any help or have questions you can always contact me at school.
